I love the holidays, and even though my kids are not quite to that point where they understand what is coming, I get excited enough for the both of us!!
When I got home from work tonight, Zander was all excited about “the candy”even though I am fairly certain he wasn’t quite sure HOW we were going to be getting the candy. And Kyrie was racing Dad to the door every time we got trick or treaters, so she could wave hi and bye. They were both very impatient when I decided I had to get pictures before they were all tired out.
When we finally got out the door, Dad grabbed the wagon so Kyrie’s little legs wouldn’t get tired. we had a blast going house to house, and Kyrie QUICKLY picked up on how this trick or treat thing worked. She practically though herself outta the wagon at each new house, and even attempted to go inside a few of them. Afterwards she would race back to the wagon, candy bucket firmly in hand, and throw herself right back in.
Zander loved it too, although he deemed the houses with spooky decorations and lights “scary, Mama”. We tried to get them both to say trick or treat… no such luck. Maybe we will master that next year. For the majority of them, Zander just stared with wide eyes as he held out his bucket for candy. And little miss Kyrie was yelling “tank ooo” all the way up to the houses and back to the wagon.
Life with kids may be hectic, but damn if it isn’t rewarding. =)
Today Zander recognized J, H, O, W, X, and Z. Every other letter was an “A” or a “B”.
After that he counted all the way to four! (Although he has developed a new habit of saying something that sounds an awful lot like “Frick” in place of the word “three”. When I try to correct him he smiles and restarts… ‘One, two, frick, four! YAY!!!”)
Then today while I was at the gym getting my Zumba on,he was in the day care area. When I came to get him to go home he ran away as usual. But instead of hiding under the jungle gym like he used to do, he started climbing right to the top!!!! I don’t even know when he learned to do that!!!
This kid is learning so fast, and growing up every time I blink. Ya, proud Mama… but STOP GROWING!!!!!
Take more pictures than I could ever possibly need. Even if it annoys my kids or my husband, so what. I love having the pictures to look back at. (Like this one of me and my hubby that he didn’t wanna take.)
Keep a Wreck This Journal. (Keri Smith) Nothing else could possibly keep my creative juices flowing so well.
Drink coffee. Coffee is…. heaven on earth. Possibly my favorite thing ever.
Keep a blog. Although I am now terrible at keeping up with this, I still enjoy it immensely.
Write in a journal. Well for me it is a composition book. Has been since high school. This is my place to ramble, complain, whine, brag, plan and anything else I can think of.
Enjoy monthly subscriptions to Birchbox and Ipsy. I never was a big fan of makeup but getting all these new things to try all the time has changed that. $10 a month is DEFINITELY worth it for both of these.
Try my best at work. I may not always be THE best at work, but I will be MY best, and that is all that matters.
Sing. Anywhere and everywhere. Music is my release, my therapy, my sanity.
Cuddle with my cat. I just read that hearing a cat purr I actually good for you. Raises hormone levels, or something like that. Not that I need a reason. I just love cuddling with Razzle.
Read to my kids. I love that I a raising them to be book lovers. I love that they cry when we leave the library, that one book at bedtime is never enough, that Zander tries to read back to me. I’ll say that is parenting done right and give myself a pat on the back.
